Rose Genco

Obituary of Rose Genco

Rose Genco (nee Mastandrea) entered into the gates of heaven on December 3, 2022 at the age of 92. Leaving this world and onto the next precisely how she wanted from the comfort of her own home in Woodhaven. Born on Devoe Street in Brooklyn, Rose was the daughter of Carmelo and Rosaria Mastandrea. She had five wonderful siblings; predeceased by Joseph, Frank, Carmelo "Sonny", and survived by Edith Viola and Beatrice DiMarino. Rose was married to her beloved John for 49 years, who predeceased her in 2002. They raised three remarkable daughters - Josephine Trapasso (Anthony), Rose Ann Ketterer (Chris), and Jane Guzman (Joe). Rose's daughters gave her the tremendous gift of seven grandchildren - Janine, Christina Giurlanda (Angelo), Anthony (Roseanne), Regina, Jonathan, Teresa Tully (Tim) and Joseph. Rose gave so much love to her life that these grandchildren would reward her with eight great-grandchildren: Gianna, Angelo, Christopher, Rosalia, Thomas, Donatello, Antonia, and Giovanni, with another on the way in January. She brought much joy and laughter to her many nieces and nephews. Rose was a woman of great faith, and although no longer able to attend Mass, she watched it daily. Another level of devotion to her faith, was praying her rosary daily as well. She has created a legacy of the greatest memories and moments for her family that will fortify us for years.
