The Floods were my next door neighbors from 1972 till 1975. They moved to a new home in 1975. I went to kindergarten with Bernadette at P.S. 121. When they moved I missed them alot. They are a tight, kindhearted family. I ran intoThomas some 15 years later and was glad to here his mom, dad, sisters and new additions to the family were doing well. I never got to see Edmond again, but I am glad I had a chance to live next door and was given the opportunity to experience a truly nice family. It all starts at the top and Edmond and Barbara always showed extreme class, their children followed their parents lead. God bless the Flood family and Edmond. Keep continuing the qualities he brought to your lovely family.
Sincerely, Brian Mckillop

I had Mr. Flood for Biology and Chemistry classes at Rice High School.
He made science fun and engaging.
He was a great guy and he is one of the reasons that science is my passion
I also made science as my profession. (Clinical Chemist / R&D Scientist)
He had a signature saying that he would add to many things he said....."If you would"
Students would mimic him on that, in a fun and loving way.
He may have passed, but he left behind a legacy.

On behalf of ALL the men who attended Rice High School during Mr. Flood's long, dedicated and faithful tenure and service, we humbly offer our deep condolences to his family and loved ones. He touched countless lives and influenced thousands of us who had the honor of knowing him and/or being influenced by him. Mr. Flood rarely smiled and always addressed each and every Rice man as "Mr. (So & So)" or "Sir", exemplifying the respect he had for each one of us as men and as people, and regardless of how many us there were, he knew each one of us by name. He'll never truly understand how his stoic presence and consistent leadership and mentorship would prepare us for the future and the next phase of our lives. His career could have led him anywhere he wanted to go, but he stayed and served at Rice for as long he did because he was committed to the core Rice mission and for that, those of us who passed through those hallowed halls are forever in his debt. Most, if not all of us, know how much you pulled for us and how hard you worked to make our Rice experience the best it could be in all areas. I saw it firsthand. May your rest in peace, Sir. You will never be forgotten and your place in heaven has long been secured. May your family be healed in knowing your service to the countless lives you've touched extend beyond your lifetime and filter down to your children, grand-children, and great grandchildren. A legacy like yours deserves nothing less. God Bless. -Anonymous Graduate of Rice H.S. (Class of 89).
