Obituary of Deoutie Mangar

In loving memory of Deoutie Mangar, who passed away on August 31, 2023, in New York City. She was born in Enmore, Guyana, and immigrated to the US in the early 70s. She was a loving mother to three children and grandmother to six. Deoutie passed away surrounded by her loved ones. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Ghirwati and Ramdat Singh, and brother, Ramkaran. She is survived by her two sisters, Champwatie and Chandramattie, and three brothers, Balwant, Dharam Raj, and Ramachal. She is also survived by her daughter Jennifer Ali, sons Shawn and Anil Mangar, and grandchildren Nadia, Sayid, Laila and Zaida Ali; Alissa Mangar, and Reese Mangar-Quinn. She helped pave the way for her siblings and other family members to make lives in the United States. She was a devoted Hindu and enjoyed cooking, singing, and praying. One of the kindest souls on this planet, she was a gentle, giving woman who worked tirelessly to ensure her family had everything they needed. She faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
