It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alejandro De Jesus, 65, from Queens, New York, who peacefully passed away on March 20, 2025. Alex was born on March 5, 1960, to Rosalia Catala Gotay and Alejandro De Jesus in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. He was raised in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico alongside his brother, Luis Alberto De Jesus. Alex grew up playing baseball and played with the Montreal Expos in 1982, where he was awarded MVP, Home Run King and Best Hitter. After graduating from the
American Military Academy, he went to Miami University in 1981, going on to study Dentistry at Universidad Central Del Este in 1986 and NYU College of Dentistry in 1994.
Alex joined a dental practice in 1992 and started his own business in 1996. In 1992 he met Castalia Mallol. Alex and Castalia wed in 2001. They had their daughter, Brianna De Jesus, in 2002.
Alex dedicated his life to his family, and to his profession. He was passionate about commemorating milestones; he was joyful and showed a strong emotional connection to the act of celebrating. He was welcoming, warm and loving. Alex was a loving son, husband, father, and brother. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his love of helping others, and his unwavering belief in family.
He is survived by Castalia De Jesus, his wife, Briana De Jesus, his daughter, Rosalia Catala Gotay, his mother, Luis Alberto De Jesus, his brother, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. His memory is a blessing and a treasure.
A memorial service will be held on March 28 2025, from 5:00p.m.-9:00 p.m., at Leahy McDonald Funeral Home,11102 Atlantic Ave, South Richmond Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting monetary donations.
